2017-2018 Mentor: Anna Rupani
In my first year of ISM, I had the incredible opportunity to mentor under Anna Rupani. Ms. Rupani is a Staff Attorney and the Pro Bono Coordinator at Mosaic Family Services, Inc., a nonprofit organization based in Dallas, Texas that provides services to survivors of human rights abuses. Ms. Rupani works primarily in family law, by providing legal services to survivors of domestic violence. She is also the Pro Bono Coordinator, where she tries to increase the number of pro bono attorneys involved with Mosaic, so as to better serve more clients. Through her work she helps the lives of many families every year. She is also the Co-Chair of the Lawyers Against Domestic Violence Committee for the Dallas Association of Young Lawyers. She attended Boston College for her undergraduate degree, pursued her Masters in Social Work at Florida State University, and attended New England School of Law for her Juris Doctorate. She eventually returned to North Texas to pursue her career in public interest law. She has worked in the private sector before, but appreciates the hard work and rewarding nature of a profession in nonprofit and public interest. Ms. Rupani's passion for public interest law stems from her commitment to helping underrepresented populations by offering them a voice where they may not have one.
